Dental Veneers in Encinitas – Discover a Flawless, Natural-Looking Smile

At Gregory Skeens D.D.S. – Encinitas Family Dentistry, we believe your smile should reflect the real you—confident, vibrant, and full of life. If you’re feeling self-conscious about chipped, stained, or uneven teeth, our custom dental veneers in Encinitas may be the perfect solution.

As a trusted veneer dentist in the area, Dr. Gregory Skeens offers both porcelain veneers and composite veneers to help you achieve a beautiful, seamless smile that looks completely natural.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells, custom-made to fit over the front surface of your teeth. Designed to correct a wide variety of cosmetic concerns, veneers can transform your smile with minimal alteration to your natural teeth.

Veneers are ideal for addressing:

  • Stains and discoloration that don’t respond to whitening
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Worn or uneven tooth edges
  • Mild misalignment or irregularly shaped teeth

Once bonded to your enamel, veneers provide a smooth, even, and bright appearance—while still allowing your smile to feel and function naturally.

Types of Veneers We Offer

At our Encinitas dental office, we offer two types of veneers to suit different needs and preferences: Porcelain Veneers and Composite Resin Veneers. Both options are effective and aesthetic, but each has its own advantages.

Porcelain Veneers in Encinitas

Porcelain veneers are highly durable, stain-resistant, and mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth. Crafted in a dental lab, these veneers are custom-designed for optimal fit, function, and aesthetics.

Benefits of porcelain veneers:

  • Exceptional durability—can last 10–15 years or more with proper care
  • Natural translucency for a lifelike appearance
  • Superior stain resistance
  • Ideal for more significant cosmetic corrections

Porcelain is typically recommended for patients looking for long-term, dramatic results with a material that most closely resembles natural tooth enamel.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers, also known as direct veneers, are made from tooth-colored resin and applied directly to the tooth surface in a single visit. They are a more affordable option and offer excellent cosmetic improvement for minor flaws.

Benefits of composite veneers:

  • Completed in one visit
  • More budget-friendly than porcelain
  • Easily repairable if chipped
  • Less enamel removal required

Composite veneers are a great option for those seeking a faster, more economical enhancement—especially when only a few teeth are being treated.

Our Veneer Process – What to Expect

Getting veneers at Gregory Skeens D.D.S. is a highly personalized experience. Whether you’re interested in porcelain veneers in Encinitas or the convenience of composite, we’ll guide you through every step.

Step 1: Consultation and Evaluation

We begin with a smile assessment to understand your concerns and goals. Dr. Skeens will examine your teeth, discuss veneer options, and help you choose the type best suited for your needs.

Step 2: Smile Design and Preparation

For porcelain veneers, a small amount of enamel is removed to ensure a perfect fit. We take digital impressions and send them to a trusted dental lab for fabrication. For composite veneers, no lab work is needed, and the resin is sculpted directly onto your teeth.

Step 3: Placement

Porcelain veneers are bonded during a follow-up appointment once your custom restorations are ready. Composite veneers are completed in a single visit. In both cases, the final results look natural and feel comfortable.

Are Veneers Right for You?

Veneers are a great option for adults of all ages who want to:

  • Improve the color, shape, or size of their teeth
  • Mask imperfections like chips or cracks
  • Close minor gaps or correct mild misalignment
  • Enhance their overall confidence in social or professional settings

Not all teeth are ideal candidates for veneers, especially those with severe decay, gum disease, or heavy grinding habits. During your consultation, we’ll assess your oral health to ensure veneers are the right solution for you.

Caring for Your Veneers

Veneers are low-maintenance but not maintenance-free. To keep your new smile in great condition, we recommend:

  • Brushing twice a day with a non-abrasive toothpaste
  • Flossing daily
  • Avoiding habits like nail biting, chewing ice, or using your teeth as tools
  • Wearing a nightguard if you grind your teeth
  • Regular dental checkups and cleanings

With proper care, your veneers—especially porcelain—can provide lasting beauty and function for many years to come.

Porcelain veneers can last 10–15 years or more with proper care, while composite veneers typically last 4–8 years. Regular checkups and good oral hygiene help maximize their lifespan.
Porcelain veneers require slight enamel removal, making the procedure irreversible. Composite veneers involve minimal enamel removal and may be more easily adjusted or replaced.
Yes, both porcelain and composite veneers are custom-matched to your natural tooth color and shape. Porcelain, in particular, reflects light in a way that closely mimics natural enamel.
The veneer process is generally comfortable. Local anesthesia may be used during tooth preparation, but most patients report little to no discomfort during or after the procedure.
