Partial Dentures in Encinitas – Flexible, Affordable Solutions for a Complete Smile
If you’re missing one or more teeth, you don’t have to live with gaps in your smile. At Gregory Skeens D.D.S. – Encinitas Family Dentistry, we offer partial dentures in Encinitas to help restore your smile, improve your ability to eat and speak, and prevent shifting of the surrounding teeth. Whether you’re missing a single tooth or several, we’ll create a custom solution that looks natural and feels comfortable.
From partial dentures for front teeth to discreet options for a missing back molar, we design every restoration to fit your unique needs and lifestyle.
What Are Partial Dentures?
Partial dentures are removable dental appliances used to replace one or more missing teeth. They’re custom-made to fill the spaces left by lost teeth while blending in with your natural smile. Partial dentures are often supported by your existing teeth and can be made from acrylic, metal, or flexible materials.
Partial dentures can be designed for:
- One missing tooth (e.g., partial denture for one tooth)
- Multiple teeth in the same arch
- Specific areas like the upper teeth or front teeth
- Long-term or temporary tooth replacement
They are an affordable and effective way to maintain function and confidence while preventing other teeth from shifting out of alignment.
Who Needs a Partial Denture?
Partial dentures are ideal for patients who:
- Are missing one or more natural teeth
- Want a non-invasive alternative to implants or bridges
- Need an economical way to replace teeth
- Aren’t ready for full dentures
- Want to improve chewing, speaking, and smiling
- Are waiting for a permanent implant or bridge and need a temporary solution
Whether you need a partial denture for upper teeth, lower teeth, front, or back—Dr. Skeens will evaluate your case and recommend the best design for your oral health and lifestyle.
Types of Partial Dentures We Offer
At our Encinitas dental office, we provide several types of partial dentures depending on your needs:
Acrylic Partial Dentures
A more affordable option often used as a temporary solution. These are lightweight and gum-colored with clasps that attach to your existing teeth.
Cast Metal Partial Dentures
A durable, long-term option with a strong metal base and natural-looking tooth replacements. These offer a secure fit and excellent longevity.
Flexible Partial Dentures
Made from flexible, gum-colored materials, these provide a more aesthetic and comfortable fit—especially popular for partial denture for front teeth.
We’ll help you compare comfort, durability, aesthetics, and cost to determine which type fits you best.

The Partial Denture Process – What to Expect
Creating a custom partial denture in Encinitas typically involves a few simple steps:
Step 1: Consultation & Evaluation
We begin with a full oral exam and digital imaging. Dr. Skeens will review your medical history, existing teeth, and gum health to determine if a partial denture is right for you.
Step 2: Impressions
We take detailed impressions of your teeth and gums to ensure a perfect fit. These impressions are used to design your custom prosthetic.Step 3: Fabrication
Your denture is crafted in a trusted dental lab, using materials that mimic the appearance and function of real teeth. If needed, we can provide a temporary partial denture while your permanent one is being made.Step 4: Fitting & Adjustments
Once your denture is ready, we’ll place it and make any necessary adjustments to ensure comfort, fit, and function. You’ll receive care instructions and tips for getting used to your new appliance.Benefits of Partial Dentures
Patients choose partial dentures for a variety of reasons—whether for long-term use or as a temporary solution. Here are just a few of the benefits:
- Restore function – Eat, chew, and speak more naturally
- Improve appearance – Fill gaps and enhance your smile
- Support oral health – Prevent shifting of nearby teeth
- Boost confidence – No more hiding your smile
- Customizable – Suitable for any part of the mouth
- Cost-effective – More affordable than bridges or implants
They’re also a great non-surgical alternative for patients who aren’t ready for or eligible for dental implants.

They are client friendly, wallet conscience and skilled at their profession! I highly recommend. Pamela Kenney2025-02-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have had 3 visits at Dr. Skeens - initial records and a thorough exam by Dr. Skeens. Fawn was incredible at my x-rays - it was most the comfortable set of x-rays I have ever had, and I have a small mouth. Dr. Skeens was excellent - very informative. They took incredibly zoomed in photos of my mouth and teeth, and Dr. Skeens walked me through every one - noting concerns and what we would do with each concern. He was very conservative, which I appreciate in a dentist. He recommended monitoring a few areas. I came back for a cleaning, which was very smooth. I returned 6 months later for another cleaning and a detailed scan of my jaws, which he takes every 5 years. His entire staff is incredible, and Dr. Skeens himself is a wonderful dentist. He truly gets to know you. He cares about you, and he only recommends treatment when absolutely necessary. So happy to be a patient at this office.
