Encinitas Dental Offices Incorporates Lasers for More Comfortable Care
Encinitas, CA – The dental office of Gregory W. Skeens, Jr., DDS announces the use of soft tissue dental lasers in oral health treatments.
Lasers are becoming increasingly more common in dental practices, as they help improve the patient experience and promote improved healing after certain restorative procedures. Dr. Skeens utilizes soft tissue dental lasers to aid in periodontal treatments and the care of soft tissue.
Dr. Skeens explains, “Our soft tissue laser has provided significant benefits for our patients and our treatment processes. Periodontal procedures with the dental laser are significantly more comfortable and allow us to ensure that we are providing efficient patient care.”
Soft tissue dental lasers utilize a wave length of light that is ideal for gum treatment, such as scaling and root planing, gum grafting, or healing cold sores and performing frenectomies. Lasers cauterize and seal tissue during procedures, so patients are less likely to experience discomfort or post-treatment bleeding. With the ability to help Dr. Skeens more efficiently complete treatments, lasers also promote faster healing times.
“With soft tissue lasers, formerly intimidating treatments like soft tissue grafting become more accessible.” Dr. Skeens adds. “In many laser procedures, patients find they do not need a local anesthetic to feel comfortable and that their post-treatment recovery is much speedier than they imagined.”
Laser treatments negate the needs for cutting or stitching, and can help patients feel at-ease about receiving soft tissue therapy. When used to combat gum disease, lasers are more effective at removing bacteria in periodontal pockets than traditional hand tools.
